Who we are
An indigenous systems-strengthening and sustainability organisation
PCI was founded on 12 November 2018 and incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria on 27 March 2019. We are Nigerian-led and community-rooted, and we work where systems are thinnest: at the meeting point of clinical services, community trust and household economics.
Our approach is deliberately unglamorous — coordinate with the agencies that own the system, build the community structures that hold it accountable, and document what actually happens so that decisions are made on evidence rather than assumption.
Operational presence: FCT Abuja — Headquarters · Rivers State · Delta State · Kebbi State · Osun State · Ekiti State
Our portfolios
Four portfolios, one systems approach
Each portfolio addresses a different failure point in the same system. Together they protect health gains from being reversed.
Health Systems Strengthening
Supporting facilities, community structures and state agencies to deliver reliable, people-centred health services — from service-delivery support and data use to quality improvement and referral coordination.
See this workLivelihood Protection
Protecting the economic base of vulnerable households so that health gains are not reversed by income shocks, combining savings-led group models with social protection navigation and skills support.
See this workEpidemic Control
Contributing to Nigeria's HIV epidemic control targets through demand creation, testing linkage, treatment support and community-led monitoring of service quality, with PCI serving as implementing partner for the PEPFAR-funded NICERIVERS Project.
See this workEnvironmental Sustainability
Working with communities on environmental health and sustainability, recognising that a safe environment is a precondition for durable health and livelihood outcomes. Primary attention is on industrial pollution in the Niger Delta region and the impacts of climate change and unsustainable farming practices across northern Nigeria.

The NICERIVERS Project
Nigeria CSO's Expanding Sustainable Virtual HIV Messaging and Community Led Monitoring (NICERIVERS) — a PEPFAR-funded intervention implemented by PCI in Rivers State in collaboration with RivSACA.
- Virtual spaces intervention: accurate, concise HIV messaging where young people already are.
- Confidential referrals into testing, prevention and treatment services.
- Electronic Community-Led Monitoring of service quality and client experience.
- Target populations: adolescents and young people (AYP) and key populations — SW, MSM, PWID and TG.
